Red River was inspired by a trip to a team roping jackpot with hopes of Vegas. Crossing the Red River, we wondered—was the trip about the rodeo or a boy? That question became the heart of the song.

Lyrics

I would cross the Red River for you
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Am I looking for love that I can't have
Or chasing the only dream I've ever had
If I don't leave, I'll never know
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Six generations roots run deep
Like oak trees hanging over Barton Creek
Texas is where I call home
But he's calling me from way up north
Should I saddle up my roping horse?
For a chance to win or a heart left to roam
With a feeling this strong
I would cross the Red River for you
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Am I looking for love that I can't have
Or chasing the only dream I've ever had
If I don't leave, I'll never know
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Pains me to leave this piece of land
But it's either you or a rope in my hand
Let the Red River run and I'll take that chance
I would cross the Red River for you
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Am I looking for love that I can't have

Or chasing the only dream I've ever had
If I don't leave, I'll never know
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
Is it the boy or the rodeo?
